| Taiwan’s probiotics products receive China market entry approval |

| Two probiotic strains “GM-080” and “GMNL-33”, developed and marketed by the Taiwan firm GenMont Biotech have been approved by regulatory agencies in China. |
| They can now be used as additive ingredients to food products in that market, according to an announcement by the company this week. |
| The two strains have been widely applied to different types of probiotic-related products commercialized in Taiwan as health foods. |
| Both strains can be used as food ingredients and as stand-alone products. GM-080 is developed and marketed as a specialized treatment for allergy related diseases. |
| Expectant mothers can use this unique strain to prevent their babies from having allergic diseases during the pregnancy. |
| The two strains were approved by China's "Management Method for Food for New Resources" law, under the country's Ministry of Health regulations at the end of 2008. |
| With this approval now obtained, GenMont is currently in negotiations with some of China's leading food companies to have the ingredient added to health foods for sale on the local marke |
